Come and be part of the Royal Forth Yacht Club

More than a place to sail, a club to belong to...

Whether you already have years of sailing experience, are thinking about learning, or simply love being by the water, Royal Forth Yacht Club is a place to get involved, meet people and enjoy life on the Forth.

Based at Granton Harbour in Edinburgh, we are a friendly, active club where sailing and socialising go hand in hand. You can race, cruise, learn, volunteer, enjoy a drink in the clubhouse, meet new people or simply find your own way into the sailing community.

And you don't need to own a boat to join us.

Find your way onto the water. A club for boat owners and non-boat owners...

One of the best things about joining RFYC is the opportunity to get out on the water.

Our sailing programme offers something for all kinds of sailors from relaxed evenings and cruises in company to competitive racing and challenges around the islands of the Forth.

Owning a boat isn't a requirement for membership. You can still become fully involved in club life sailing with other members, using the club boats, joining cruises and racing, and making connections that can lead to more opportunities on the water. For people new to sailing, our Open Sailing programme provides a chance to try before joining.

If you have your own boat, membership gives you access to facilities and services at Granton Harbour, including fully serviced club moorings, pontoon berths, launch services and the club crane for suitable boats.

You can start with simply being curious. You don't need to arrive with a boat. Just bring an interest in sailing and a willingness to get involved.

A friendly club, on and off the water, in our clubhouse...

For many of our members, the people are just as important as the sailing. Our clubhouse at Granton Harbour is at the heart of the Club, with fantastic views over the water.

RFYC is a place to make new friends, share experiences and learn from people with a wealth of knowledge whether that's racing tactics, cruising destinations, boat maintenance or simply where to find the best lunch on a sailing day.

Members have access to changing facilities, showers, toilets, a lounge and bar, as well as spaces for social events and private functions.

It's somewhere to come before you sail, somewhere to return to afterwards and somewhere to spend time with fellow members even when the weather isn't cooperating. With a fully licensed bar, a commercial kitchen, and music license, (at special member prices!), we have a very attractive social offering.

You can come along with friends and family or come on your own and meet people here.

There is always someone to share a sail, a story or a drink with.

Something for every generation...

Sailing at RFYC isn't just for adults.

Our Cadet membership gives young people the opportunity to develop their sailing skills, have fun on the water and make new friends, with qualified instruction and support from the wider Club community.

Families can also enjoy the clubhouse, social events and the many opportunities to spend time together around the water.

Join a club where you can get involved...

Alongside a few employees, Royal Forth Yacht Club is run by its members, and that is part of what makes it special.

There are opportunities to contribute as much or as little as you like whether that's helping at an event, supporting sailing activities, sharing your skills, volunteering behind the scenes or simply turning up and joining in.

The more you put into the Club, the more you can get from it.

But there is no pressure to do anything.

Come along. Meet us. Have a sail. See what you think.
